Trying to build mass with dumbbells is nothing new when it comes to shoulder exercises. However, there are a few key points you may not be doing that will help take your overall shoulder development to the next level; and maybe even a new shirt size to go with along for the ride.

The first key to help protect those shoulders during heavy pressing is to keep your palms facing each other. Virtually no one does this. Typically, elbows are out wide and your palms are facing forward. This gives you almost no room for error. Most likely you or someone you know has at least ‘twinged’ their shoulders while repping out heavy presses this way, either with a barbell or dumbbells.

Back to the dumbbell shoulder press with your palms facing each other. This allows for great shoulder muscle stimulus and is a safer position for your shoulders! Win-win!
