What exactly is intuitive eating?

Two dieticians from California, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch came up with the intuitive eating model back in the year 1995.

The plan is simple – listen to your gut and stop eating when it signals you that you’re full. The experts believed that all of us, fundamentally, are born ‘intuitively’. Take the example of kids. They eat when they are hungry and take a break when they are full.

As we progress we age, we become less and less mindful of what we put in our body. While adopting the intuitive eating routine, we basically have to learn, re-learn, and unlearn eating habits and adopt a more sustainable pattern.

It is simple, you just have to be aware of what your body is signaling. Eat when you are hungry and stop when you feel full. Intuitive eating is not a ‘diet plan’. You can eat whatever you want, but more in a way where you are not forcing eating beyond your need. This way, you will be only consuming what you need, leading to a healthy lifestyle.

It is not a diet

Intuitive eating is not a diet. It is a proper lifestyle that you have to adopt and stick with it. Rules are simple: eat when you hungry, stop when you feel full.

  • Restlessness and experiencing mood swings
