running on an empty stomach?

It means no food, obviously, but you should not preclude you from liquids. If you are running, you need to keep yourself hydrated. It is essential to avoid any injury or mishap during a workout. So, you must take some liquids or drink. Water is the most favorite drink because it does not contain any calories. Some people start their workout after taking refreshing beverages, plain tea, black coffee, or juices. But, keep this factor in mind that you should take low-calorie liquid.

Which type of runs is suitable and safe?

Well, if you prefer running for 90 minutes and less, then this moderate exertion is acceptable with running on an empty stomach. Heavy exertion over long periods will be unsustainable. Muscle fatigue, cramping, and dizziness will make your heavy workout impossible. So, you need to take some energy bars or a sports drink before starting your workout since it improves your stamina.

Moreover, some myths are here that you must know about this factor.

Empty stomach workout leads to muscle loss

If you start a workout without eating something leads to muscle loss. But, the fact is, your muscles will not disappear right away. It is a myth that without food intake, the human body has no glucose and carbohydrates to burn for morning sessions. In this way, the human body starts braking muscle protein and gets the energy to work out. However, it is not 100% accurate. In the human body, glucose and carbohydrates are stored. So, when a person starts morning run, the body starts consuming stored carbohydrates.

Best way to lose weight

Running on an empty stomach causes you to burn more fats, and it leads to weight loss. This factor forces the human body to burn stored fats to burn first. But, doing high-intensity running sessions is not possible to do with the empty stomach. You need more energy if you are doing a heavy workout or cardio exercise. A person must take an energy drink or diet instead of taking carbohydrates and fats. In this way, your body will consume more calories.

Boosts your stamina

Running on an empty stomach is not a good idea for athletes who need to increase their performance. Intensity and training duration is related to the lack of glycogen. It is not possible that you improve your stamina and performance without having energy. To increase stamina, you need to consume an energy diet.

Conclusion on running on an empty stomach

Empty stomach runners need to consume more oxygen. It causes a washed-out feeling of exhaustion. When we are discussing the topic of glycogen use, we should mention that running on an empty stomach is not a good idea because insulin supply in the body depletes overnight. The empty stomach has short of glycogen and sugar stores. So, for diabetics, running without eating anything can cause a risk of life.
