How Much Protein Should you Eat?
The United states recommended daily allowance (RDA) is 0.8g/kg or 0.4g/lbs. This is 80g protein daily if you weigh 200lbs. But this recommendation is determined by experiments done on average, less active people.
The National Strength and Conditioning Association (N.S.C.A.) suggests that active people try to eat between 0.4g to 0.6g of protein per pound of bodyweight, and approximately 0.8g for competitive athletes. On the whole, the higher your general activity level, the more your protein need increases.
The minimum if you train really hard is 1g protein per pound of bodyweight daily. That’s 200g daily protein in case you weigh 200lbs. You’ll reach this amount quickly by eating a whole protein source with every meal.
